What you get

A tune, not a canned file

Off-the-shelf files are written for a car that isn't yours, in weather that isn't ours. Every tune here is written on our dyno, on your car, with your fuel.

01

Baseline pull

We run the car as it sits so you have a real before number — not a magazine figure or the last shop's claim.

02

Health check first

Compression, leaks, plugs, fuel pressure. If the car isn't safe to load, we stop and tell you rather than taking your money.

03

Calibration on the dyno

Fuel, timing, boost and torque management dialed in over multiple pulls, watching knock and air/fuel the whole way.

04

Street verification

A dyno-perfect car that stumbles at part throttle is a failed tune. We drive it and fix the way it behaves in traffic.

05

Your dyno sheet

Before and after, printed. It's yours — for your records, your build thread, or the next owner.

06

Notes that follow the car

What we changed and why goes on your ticket, so any future work starts from fact instead of guesswork.

What it costs

Posted prices, not "call for pricing"

These are the numbers we quote every day. A written estimate always comes before any work starts.

$895

Full dyno tune

Calibration on our AWD Dynojet, street verification, printed sheet.

$300

Baseline dyno pull

No tuning — just a documented, repeatable number for your car.

$695

TCU / transmission tune

Shift points, line pressure and torque limits. Often done the same visit.

$1,590

Tune + TCU together

Both calibrations in one visit, one drop-off, one set of pulls.

Parts, HP Tuners credits and any mechanical work found during the health check are quoted separately and never added without your approval. Cars needing repair before they can be safely loaded are stopped and quoted first.

The equipment

An all-wheel-drive dyno most shops don't have

A two-wheel-drive dyno can't load an Audi, a Subaru, a GT-R or a modern AMG properly. Ours reads all four wheels, which means the calibration is written against what the engine is actually doing rather than an estimate.

That's also why people trailer in from Nashville and Birmingham for a day on our rollers.

  • AWD Dynojet chassis dyno on site — no scheduling around someone else's shop
  • HP Tuners calibration for GM, Ford, Dodge and more
  • Wideband, knock and temperature monitored on every pull
  • In-house engine building, exhaust fabrication and machine work if the tune uncovers a problem

Questions we get every week

How much does a dyno tune cost?

A full dyno tune at Apex is $895. That covers the pulls, the calibration work and the printed sheet you take home. A baseline dyno pull with no tuning is $300. A TCU tune is $695 and is often done at the same visit, which saves you a second trip.

How long does a dyno tune take?

Most street cars are a single day. Boosted cars, built engines and anything with fresh hardware take longer because we stop and check things between pulls rather than chasing a number. We tell you before you drop the car off, not after.

What is an AWD dyno and why does it matter?

Our Dynojet reads all four wheels, so all-wheel-drive cars — Audi, Subaru, GT-R, modern AMG — get tuned under real load instead of being estimated. Most shops in north Alabama only have a two-wheel-drive dyno.

Do you tune on E85 or flex fuel?

Yes. E85, pump gas, race gas and flex-fuel setups. If you want a flex tune, tell us up front so we can plan the sensor and the fuel system around it.

Will a tune hurt my engine or void my warranty?

A tune done badly will. We tune to a target you agree to, watch knock, air/fuel and temps the whole time, and we will tell you when the parts on the car can't safely support what you're asking for. A modified calibration can give a manufacturer grounds to deny a related claim, so decide that with your eyes open.

Do I need to bring anything?

A car that's mechanically sound — good plugs, no leaks, healthy fuel pump. If your car has been tuned before, bring the file or tell us who did it. If you have HP Tuners credits already, bring the MPVI interface.
